Umargam Police have arrested six persons for allegedly gambling in the Umargam town area and seized cash, mobile phones and playing cards collectively valued at ₹82,200.

According to a press note issued by Umargam Police, the action was carried out following a tip-off received by the surveillance team during patrolling in the town area.

Police allegedly found the six persons engaged in gambling with playing cards. The team seized ₹30,200 in cash, four mobile phones valued at ₹52,000 and 52 playing cards, taking the total value of the seized property to ₹82,200.

The arrested persons have been identified as Dharmeshbhai Vasantbhai Patel (40), Niteshbhai Manojbhai Tandle (30), Hemantbhai Sitarambhai Machhi (27), Bhavanbhai Mahendrabhai Machhi (34), Sajid Tajuddin Charaniya (35), and Kevinbhai DamodarbhaI Machhi (30). All are residents of Umargam taluka, according to the police.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of senior police officials, including Vapi Deputy Superintendent of Police B.N. Dave, and on the instructions of Umargam Police Inspector H.D.Tuvar.

Police officials and personnel involved in the operation included PSI H.K. Rathod, ASIs Hitesh Premjibhai and Rakesh Mahadevbhai, and other members of the Umargam Police team.

Legal proceedings have been initiated by Umargam Police Station in connection with the case.
