FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe Intensifies Crackdown on Food Adulteration Across Maharashtra
Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, IAS, has intensified the state’s campaign against food adulteration and unsafe food practices, reinforcing the government’s commitment to protecting public health.
Under his leadership, the FDA has carried out large-scale inspections across Maharashtra, targeting food manufacturers, dairies, restaurants, wholesalers, and retailers. Several establishments found violating food safety regulations have faced licence suspensions, product seizures, and legal action.
In recent weeks, the department has launched major drives against adulterated milk products, synthetic food items, banned gutkha, and overpriced medicines. The FDA has also taken steps to curb the sale of analogue paneer and other substandard food products that could pose risks to consumers.
Officials say the campaign aims to ensure that every citizen has access to safe and hygienic food while sending a strong message that violations of food safety laws will not be tolerated. The department has urged food business operators to strictly comply with legal standards and maintain hygiene at every stage of production and distribution.
Known for his disciplined and transparent administrative style, Tukaram Mundhe has earned a reputation for taking firm action against irregularities. His recent initiatives have been widely viewed as a significant step toward strengthening consumer protection and improving food safety enforcement across Maharashtra.
